Software Engineering Winter Intern, 2025: Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an Associate, Bachelor's, or Master's degree program, or have equivalent technical training in software development or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience in software development.
  • Familiarity with coding in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of technologies such as web application development, Unix/Linux environments, mobile app development, distributed systems, machine learning, natural language processing, information retrieval, networking, or software security.
  • Understanding of data structures or algorithms from academic courses, self-study, or open-source projects.
  • Ability to work full-time for at least 6 months outside of academic periods.
  • Strong English communication skills to engage in technical discussions.

About the Role

As a Software Engineering Intern, you'll contribute to key projects and services that support engineering operations. You'll work on innovative solutions in areas such as search optimization, computing platforms, networking, video indexing automation, or scaling complex auction systems. Your role involves developing software applications to enhance Google's products, tackling complex data challenges, and collaborating on scalability and performance issues.

Internship Details

  • Internship duration: January 2025 for 22-24 weeks.
  • Open to students in their final year of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Dual degree program in Computer Science or related fields, graduating in 2025.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with peers and teams to create a productive environment.
  • Write scripts to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Analyze data and choose optimal solutions for technical problems.
  • Apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges.
